The Maggie’s Oldham Cancer Care Centre is structured around an exposed glulam timber frame that forms both the primary support and the architectural expression of the building.
Vertical timber posts are paired with diagonal bracing members that create a triangulated system, stiffening the frame against lateral loads while allowing large, open internal spaces. The roof structure is also expressed as a layered timber grid that distributes loads back to the perimeter frame, creating a lightweight but highly stable structural system defined by repetition and clear load paths.
